Moving to the Community organization

What to expect when your account is migrated into the shared Community organization

Purpose: This document explains what happens when your Verily Workbench account is moved into the shared Community organization, why we're making this change, and what (if anything) you need to do.

What is changing

We are consolidating users in smaller, Verily-managed organizations into a single shared Community organization. This change will happen in September. If your account is part of this change, your organization membership will move to the Community org, along with your pods, workspaces, and data collections.

Why we're making this change

The Community organization is designed for self-service. After the move, you'll be able to manage more of your own work without needing to file a request with Verily. Specifically, you'll gain the ability to:

  • Create and manage your own pods (billing configuration), and
  • Create and manage your own groups.

Previously these actions required a Verily administrator. In the Community org, they're available directly to you.

What happens to your access and data

Area What happens
Workspaces Move with you. No data is lost; all cloud resources are preserved.
Data collections Move with you.
Pods Move with you. You gain the ability to create and manage your own pods (billing).
Groups Move with you. You gain the ability to create and manage your own groups.
License tier Unchanged. If you have Professional tier access today, you keep it in the Community org.
Sign-in / URLs No change to how you sign in or the address you use.

Your license tier is unchanged

If you currently have Professional tier access, you will keep Professional tier access after the migration. Your tier is tied to your account, not to your previous organization, so it carries over automatically.

Before, during, and after

  • Before: You'll see an announcement in the Workbench web UI and on this Support Hub linking to this article.
  • During: The migration runs in the background. There's no downtime and nothing you need to do.
  • After: You'll have access to self-service pod (billing) and group management within the Community organization.

A note on workspace sharing

Sharing behavior may differ slightly in the Community organization compared with your previous org. If you shared workspaces with collaborators, review your sharing settings after the migration to confirm they match your expectations. See Manage organizations for details on roles and sharing.
